Wild Life

The known species of the Maracas Valley and the northern range include

• 400 birds,

• 620 butterfly,

• 99 reptile,

• 2,300 flowers, plants and shrubs,

• 180 different species of orchid.

The picturesque Maracas River passes through the Estate offering natural bathing pools. 

There are easily accessible small waterfalls are like the Maracas waterfall itself, which, at 91 metres, is the highest in Trinidad, and the past to which starts in the Santa Barbara Estate!  Not far away is Maracas Bay, a large sandy beach with all the facilities including lifeguards.
